The Grinch Candy Cane Hunt Debut

We invited The Grinch to come down from his cave on Mt. Crumpit to join us in Callicoon, NY on Saturday, December 8th. Though uninspired at first, The Grinch found out Dickens on Delaware would be providing loads of holiday goodies and treats for everyone. “He would spoil the event by hiding all the candy canes and turning some of them green,” he thought, “and he would be there to witness the looks of despair on all of their faces afterward!”

He gloated at the very thought and confirmed his attendance.

Getting Grinchy In Callicoon

Over 100 kids and their guardians gathered at The Delaware Youth Center to witness The Grinch make his first annual appearance! He made his mean green way around town pestering the local shopkeepers with his dog max, intriguing fellow townsfolk and peaking interest.

Let The Festivities Begin!

Walking into the Delaware Youth Center, party goers were greeted with holiday music, lights and decorations. Paper bags were handed out to decorate as they prepared for the hunt. A variety of activities were set up around the room, such as, Pin The Heart On The Grinch, Giant Jenga, Whipped Cream Game, and Create Your Own Grinch Slime w/ Glitter.

Candy Cane Hunt

Kids ages 4 – 12 ran outside to begin searching for Grinch green candy canes, gathering the red and whites as they found them. The Grinch came out eager to see the disappointed young boys and girls but was stunned by what he saw. He watched, utterly baffled, as they frolicked about the grounds searching high and low. They were not disappointed at all! In fact, his devious plan had only brought them closer together!

Raffles, Prizes, and Refreshments

As everyone began to come inside, they made a stop at the hot chocolate station filling their cups with warm goodness, whipped cream, marshmallows and sprinkles. Fruit, snacks, water, and holiday juice were available to all. Raffles were drawn as a few lucky winners would win their very own custom-made Grinch Cake or tickets to see The Grinch. Green candy cane finders won Grinch cupcake cookies green Grinch Cookies. Candy Canes could be redeemed at The Callicoon Theater for a free popcorn, that week.

They Say His Heart Grew Three Times Its Size That Day

The Grinch entered the room and an overwhelming feeling of communal laughter and holiday spirit overcame his soul. His heart grew three sizes that day.

The Grinch enjoyed himself and returned to Mt. Crumpit filled with joy, love, and happiness. Maybe he thought, I’ll be back again next year!
